Spring time is the push many of us need (okay, okay – the push I need) to get focused on eating healthy and getting fit. The weather is picking up and I’m thinking less of warm comfort foods, and more of cool and light foods and drinks. I also want to be more active, and need to eat better to fuel my body. Last year, at the beginning of the summer, I tried the Suja 1 Day Fresh Start detox and really enjoyed it. Suja has handcrafted three lines of delicious Cold-Pressed, Organic & Non-GMO juices and smoothies, plus Probiotic Waters, Probiotic Vinegar Juices and new Kombuchas that are all USDA certified Organic and Non-GMO Project verified.
Since I worked with Suja on their National Green Day campaign this year, I decided to partner with them to talk about their juice options that include seasonal fruits and vegetables in spring. Including seasonal fruits and veggies in your diet is not only good for you, but it’s also good for the environment since it doesn’t have to travel as far to get to you. Fruits and vegetables like strawberry, honeydew, pineapple, mango, chard, spinach, and peas are all seasonal for Spring. While eating them whole is great, drinking juices that include these is also a way to get more of their goodness in especially on the go.
Suja not only has juices, but they also have probiotic water, probiotic vinegar juices, and kombuchas. We got a chance to try these drinks, and we’ll give you the tea on what our favorites are.
Green Delight. Green Delight is a nourishing, sweet smoothie that bursts with hearty greens and juicy fruit, amped up with superfoods like spirulina and chlorella. It contains mango and spinach. This is by far my favorite of the green juices from Suja, and is a great place to start if you’re new to drinking green juices.
Honeydue Hue. This organic honeydew juice is balanced with tart lime, and our secret ingredient – fermented turmeric. It sounds gross, but trust me you can’t taste it. Honeydew Hue contains honeydew, water, fermented turmeric, lime, boabab and stevia. I have a hard time finding this one in stores, but I’ll be on the hunt for it. It’s so refreshing!
Strawberry Probiotic Apple Cider Vinegar Juice. This drink contains water, strawberry, apple cider vinegar, coconut nectar, lime, balsamic vinegar, vegan probiotics and stevia. Make no mistake – this tastes like vinegar. I couldn’t drink the whole bottle in one sitting, but I would usually take a few chugs in the morning. The strawberry
Strawberry Probiotic Water. This probiotic water contains water, strawberry and vegan probiotics. That’s it. You definitely taste water with a hint of strawberry – this one is refreshing but not super sweet at all.
Ginger Turmeric Probiotic Coconut Vinegar Juice. This juice combines coconut vinegar – a delicious and nutritious alternative to apple cider vinegar – with vegan probiotics, turmeric, lemon, pineapple and a hint of ginger. This vinegar juice is noticeably milder than the ones with apple cider vinegar. So if the tartness of ACV is too much for your, this one is worth a whirl.
Revive. Revive was refreshing with cucumber, pineapple, and ginger, and I enjoyed it – I can see this one might be a little tough for new juice drinkers. I drank this on my way to Zumba and it really did revive me and was kinda a pick me up.
Vibrant Probiotic. Vibrant contains 2 billion CFUs of vegan probiotics in a tart and sweet smoothie. It contains water, strawberry, raspberry, lemon, honey, tart cherry, vegan probiotics and stevia. Since it’s more smoothie than juice, it’s a little thicker in consistency but not super thick if that’s not your thing.
Green Kombucha. This kombucha is made with pineapple and lemon plus chlorella and spirulina plus 5 billion probiotic cultures, plus adaptogenic moringa. Sounds like its going to be gross, but surprising enough the pineapple steals the show in this kombucha. If you like fruity kombuchas, don’t let the ‘green’ in the name fool you – it’s really good.
Suja is one of the few brands I trust when it comes to store-bought juices and kombucha. These varieties of juices and probiotic drinks were all great. Not just for the many healthy benefits, but also for the taste. Out of all the ones I tried, my least favorite was the apple cider vinegar juice, just because the vinegar taste was so pronounced to me. If I had to choose favorites, I’d go with Honeydew Hue (I love honeydew melon), Green Delight (the only green juice that I like from Suja because its sweet), and the Green Kombucha (I love kombucha and I love pineapple).
Have you tried, or would you try, any of these Suja drinks made with fruits and veggies that are seasonal in Spring?
