Hair Product Review: nuNAAT Real Me Curl-to-Coil Collection

I was selected by nuNAAT to try their new Real Me Curl-to- Coil collection. This collection is free of sulfates, mineral oils, parabens and sodium chloride; and has been specially formulated with their exclusive Join Complex®.

Join Complex® is a perfect blend of 5 natural oils extracted from nuts, fruits and green collagen that nourishes and hydrates hair fibers for softer, more manageable hair— and is ideal for use on kinky, coily, and curly hair textures, but can also be used on chemically treated and relaxed hair as well.

This line features 6 full sized products that are designed to work together as a collection for optimum results or individually. I was asked share my results from start to finish using the products as a complete collection. Overall, I was very pleased with my results from this product line. But here is the breakdown of each of the products.

Lather Up & Hydrate Shampoo

What They Say: Cleanses and moisturizes multi-textured hair without weighing it down, leaving it silky soft and easier to style. Strengthens hair and maintains a healthy scalp, promoting intense shine.
What I Say: This shampoo was cleansing and moisturizing. Even though it is sulfate-free, it definitely creates a nice lather. But I was able to glide my fingers through my hair during the shampoo process. My hair was clean after using it, but felt nourished as well.

Blast of Shine Hair Mask

What They Say: Defines natural curly textures, moisturizing hair and eliminating frizz. Intensely nourishes hair, leaving it silky and shiny. Controls excessive volume and fly-aways.
What I Say: My hair liked this intense conditioner. I only had to leave it on for a short period of time, and it had great slip. I was able to finger detangle with the product in my hair and after it was rinsed out.

Real Moisture Conditioner

What They Say: Softens, hydrates and detangles wavy to kinky textures without weighing hair down. Eliminates frizz for a longer period of time.
What I Say: It did that. This conditions had great slip, and I was able to finger detangle while in my hair and after I rinsed it out.

Natural Curl Activator

What They Say: Keeps hair hydrated and frizz-free for an extended period of time. Protects hair against harsh environmental conditions and prevents breakage. Ideal for daily use.
What I Say: As shown in the picture above, to your left is where I applied the product versus the right where no product was applied. Big difference. My curls were defined and hydrated, but there was not a strong hold like with a gel. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on what you’re needing.

Pick Me Up Sheen

What They Say: Softens and protects multi-textured hair, leaving it intensely shiny and easy to style. Controls frizz without leaving behind residue. Ideal if used before flat-ironing or blow-drying, or throughout the day to restore vitality.
What I Say: I don’t think the picture does it justice, but this product did add sheen to my hair and additional slip. I was going to do a twist-out so it’s good for products to have some slip when doing styles like twists and braids since they involve a lot of manipulation. I also used it when taking the twists out for the final style and for upkeep. I did not use this product before flat-ironing or blow-drying so I can’t speak to its use in those ways. Below are my results after styling.

Perfect Do Pomade

What They Say: Tames even the kinkiest of hair textures without weighing it down. Moisturizes for a healthy scalp. Prevents hair breakage and provides smooth edge control. Ideal for dry hair and/or chemically processed hair.
What I Say: Totally not what I expected when I opened the jar. I guess I was looking for a jelly type of pomade, but this was more like a butter. Not that it was a bad thing; it was actually a good thing. This pomade provided edge control but was moisturizing as well. It was not a strong hold but it did smooth my edges for this updo style; mind you I just used my hands so that explains why the nape of my neck isn’t completely slick down. The soft hold is a plus because it allows you to style your hair differently the next day if you’d like.

Overall, the Real Me Curl-to-Coil Collection was a great group of products that worked well together to moisturize and style my hair. My hair was nourished and conditioned after using these product over several weeks. If you are looking for a product line that is free of Sulfates, Mineral Oils, Parabens and Sodium Chloride, this is one you’ll want to try. I like that it’s is designed for curly, coily, kinky, relaxed and chemically processed hair textures.
