I received this product complimentary from Hot Designs for testing purposes.
As a teenager, I wanted to be a nail technician. I remember doing my classmates nails, I’m talking applying acrylic nails, nail art, on my parents’ patio as a side hustle. Its been years since then, and I never quite made it to nail tech school. But I love playing in nail polish and jumped on the opportunity to try out Hot Designs Nail Art Pens as a part of the 4C Hair Chick Network.

What I Say
I really enjoyed using the Hot Designs nail art pens. I loved that the top had the pen tip and brush so that you could use the color as a polish and to create precise designs. What I didn’t like is that the pens had two colors on each one, so they were very tall when you stood them up. I was nervous that it would fall and spill over. I would have liked if they were separated so the bottles were more stable.
Because the polish bottle was squeezable, I was able to control the flow of nail polish with ease the first time I used the pens. The second time, however, sometimes only air came out and that would cause either too much or not enough polish to come out. That was probably my fault because the directions did tell you to squeeze the bottle while putting the top on in order to avoid trapping air inside.
I really appreciated that the kit came with sample designs to guide the user along the way and to inspire. I took ideas from the guide to create the two designs I did – hearts and flowers. Overall, I liked the nail art pens and I think for the price they are a great value. This is a perfect gift for tween and teen girls, or an aspiring nail technician. I plan to share them with my soon-to-be 18 year old step-daughter who is currently in cosmetology school and enjoys doing nail art.
