TLC’s What Not To Wear is one of my favorite shows, and really inspired me to focus on my personal style. So when I saw that Macy’s was bringing Clinton Kelly to their Durham store, I immediately made plans to make the trip. Yes, I drove 3 hours to attend this event – what can I say, I’m passionate.
Macy’s hosted an amazing style event, inviting us to join the makeover master himself, Clinton Kelly, for a special evening of fashion, food and fun! During the event, Clinton would show women of all shapes, sizes and ages how to wear the latest looks for Spring and Summer. They really rolled out the red carpet for the bloggers, giving us front row access at the event and seating on plush white sofas. Light bites and cool drinks were passed by servers, and the DJ kept us entertained while we waited for the event to start. We also received gift bags that included Macy’s coupons and samples from Estée Lauder.
From the moment Clinton came on stage, he kept us entertained. He engaged with the audience, shared a lot of himself with us, and kept us laughing. At the same time, he also encouraged us to do and wear what truly makes us happy, and to stop being so mean to ourselves! After telling us about what he’s doing now, he asked if anyone from the audience would like to have their outfit critiqued. One brave soul volunteered, and he gave her some great pointers on how to improve her look.
“Fashion is a buffet; style is what you put on your plate.” – Clinton Kelly
Next up, he moderated the fashion segments which included items that all could be found in Macy’s. I loved that he was able to communicate why each look worked for each women. No matter the age, shape or size, he showed that you can implement the hottest fashion trends into your personal style.
After the fashion show, Clinton answered several audience questions. Then he concluded with some encouraging words to remind us all that style is about wearing what truly makes you happy. It is not about comparing yourself to others, or focusing on the things we dislike about ourselves physically. It’s all about looking and feeling great and highlighting our best assets, inside and out.
This event was definitely worth the trip! Below are more pictures from the event that I posted on the Naturally Glam Facebook page. If you had a chance to ask Clinton Kelly a style question, what would you ask? Leave it below in the comments!
