[disclaim]This post is sponsored by Everywhere Agency; however, all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.[/disclaim] We don’t care what Stacey Dash thinks, we love Black History Month. Each year, we learn something we didn’t know about the contributions that Black men and women in times past and in the present day have made. We had so much fun at last year’s celebration, and are excited to partner again with Macy’s this year as they celebrate Black History Month.
Join Macy’s this February as they salute a rising icon of African American culture! African American actors, artists and performers have been commanding the spotlight for decades, but the newest generation of trendsetters is in a class all its own.
Throughout the month, Macy’s will be hosting events at several of their locations with celebrity guests at each location. Here’s a list of all the event dates and celebrity guests:
- Macy’s Herald Square (New York, NY) – Feb 3, 6pm
- Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Monica, Terrance J
- Macy’s Center City (Philadelphia, PA) – February 4, 5:30pm

- Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Monica
We’ll be present and accounted for at the Washington, DC event, and we can’t wait to meet Jurnee Smollet-Bell, Beverly Bond, and Eunique Jones Gibson – even though I am a bit jealous of the folks in New York (Terrance J is my #2 celebrity crush, and Monica is Monica…period).
As an actress, Jurnee (pictured above) has won awards for her role in The Great Debaters and has starred in multiple TV and movie roles. Meet her just in time to ask her about her new show, Underground, airing on WGN America this spring. Beverly Bond (pictured below founded Black Girls Rock; a girls’ empowerment nonprofit organization. Bond and BGR are dedicated to giving girls a positive self-image, education, and the leadership skills to succeed in life.
Motivational speaker and activist, Eunique Jones Gibson (pictured below) has used social media to launch the “Because of Them, We Can” and “I AM Trayvon Martin” campaigns. Eunique has helped to empower young black people by honoring their ancestors’ legacies ad has inspired people to use their own voices to highlight the need for change.
If you’d like to attend the event in DC, be sure to rsvp here. For more information and to RSVP for any of the other locations, go to macys.com/celebrate.
Will you be attending one of the Macy’s events, or do you have other plans to celebrate Black History Month? We’d love to hear about it.
Way to represent, Macy’s! I wish we had an event like this here in my town.
Bravo to Macy’s! It’s nice to see a major brand step up to the plate and represent our culture and history.
Macy’s always has cool events. And Stacey Dash is crazy so we def won’t be listening to her lol. Jurnee is really nice and has a great body of work she has done.
This is awesome! I love that Macy’s is doing something for Black History Month.

I honestly had no idea that Macy’s hosts these BHM events. It makes me love them even more seeing that they’re attuned to the needs/wants of some of their best customers – black Americans!

I absolutely love what Macy’s stands for. I really appreciate the fact that they highlight so many amazing events/people/causes.
