I was slightly geeked when I came across this pair of acid washed denim skinny jeans at Ross for only $11.99. I purchased them for old times sake, and didn’t wear them for about 2 months. I wanted to figure out how to style acid washed denim without looking like I was stuck in another time zone. Incorporating pieces with texture and pattern really add interest to your outfit. I decided to pair these acid washed denim jeans with other solid pieces, like this deep teal boyfriend blazer, black faux wrap top, and tan brown booties. Since it is cold out, I added this animal print scarf. Add my Moruka Designs clutch in a neutral tone for some texture, and we’re done.

On the day I wore this look, I was actually heading to Silver Spring, MD to cover an event on behalf of African Pride. They were sponsoring a Queen for a Day event presented by Raheem DeVaughn and his organization, Love Life Foundation. The event provided 20 women who survived domestic violence with a day of pampering, and a private performance from Raheem DeVaughn himself. After that, I headed to Washington DC to attend the Black History Month event at Macy’s with June Ambrose and Johnetta Boone. During that event, the ladies discussed how the Soul Era and Black people have inspired and continue to inspired the fashion world. Since I was going to be on my feet ALL DAY LONG, I did opt to wear some flat faux suede knee-high boots in a similar color with this look.
