Turning our second bedroom from a home office into a nursery was a challenge but I’m so excited to share the final nursery tour. But before we get started, there are some thank you’s that are in order. Thank you to Delta Children for gifting us with our crib for free for review purposes, and thank you Mr. Blakes for assembling it. Thank you to those who gifted us with items and gift cards we used to purchase pieces for the space. Thank you to my dad for painting the walls and my mom for refurbishing the dresser, laps, and shadow boxes.
Before – The Home Office
Here’s what the room looks like before as a reference. Some of the items that we kept in the space are the set of small table lamps and the set of storage cube shelves.
After – African Safari Inspired Nursery
It was hard at first to decide what our nursery theme would be. We didn’t know what we wanted, but we knew what we didn’t want. No cartoon characters. We did agree on a gray/black/white color scheme, so we started from there. My dad painted the room white with a grey accent wall.
I came across some artwork of these adorable safari animals with bowties and I was sold on an African safari inspired theme. We kept the ankara print pillows from the office, and added african animal masks as wall art. I added the acrylic shelves above the rocker to the accent wall to not take up any visual space, and did a small gallery wall above his crib.
Speaking of the crib, let’s talk about the Farmhouse 4-in-1 Crib by Delta Children. We selected the Midnight Gray finish to go along with our color scheme. This convertible crib is the focal point of baby’s room. Its grow-with-me design features three adjustable height levels that allow the crib to be lowered as Mr. Blakes Jr grows, plus it converts from a crib, to a toddler bed, love seat, daybed, full size bed with headboard or full size bed with headboard and footboard. He will have this bed all the way through his high school years.
For now, he can hang out in the crib during the day while supervised with his stuffed animal friends and watch videos. At night and during nap time, we clear everything out to for safe sleeping.
Another key piece of furniture is the dresser which doubles as a changing table. My mom found this piece at our local Goodwill for $2 and refurbished it. Here’s the before and after!
For even more details about the nursery, watch the nursery tour video on our youtube channel, Naturally Glam TV. And let us know in the comments what your child’s nursery theme was or what theme would you choose for your baby.
Whoa! That’s some great creativity going on there! I definitely also liked the home office too!
The nursery is beautiful. I love the chest of drawers. The color is nice. Great design work mom!
Aw so cute! Wow you did an amazing job with that dresser. And two bucks is a steal.
$2 for the dresser Wow great find and how you refurbished it so lovely!
Very nice! I love a space that has lots of light and the theme is awesome.
I wanted to find an old dresser to convert into a changing table so badly when I was pregnant. We ended up getting a new one though. I didn’t have any luck scouring thrift stores in Atlanta.
Love it. Amazing job. I also like the art work of Biggie, Nas, and Jay. Where did those end up?
This is cool. Had something totally crazy and different in mind 🤦🏾♀️😅 I really enjoy the regurbished dresser and interested in the new art hanging. Looks really cool ^.^
Ohhhh this is soo cute! I love how it all turned out. Nicely done!
Awww how sweet! The nursey makeover is so cute. The little one can grow right into that without much change needed. Great job!
Congrats on your little one. Loving the nursery set up for your baby!
Wow. That dresser is an amazing re-do and update. The nursery is gorgeous!
His nursey turned out really nice. I love a good DIY project, you guys did a great job. The dresser your Mom gave new life is my favorite piece. My second favorite is the animals in bow ties. I totally understand why you fell in love with them.
Aw I am loving the theme of African Safari! There are always so many adorable animal-themed decor items for kids. It looks so warm and cozy for baby!
Your baby is gorgeous! Your nursery had all the polish and sophistication of a HGTV redesign. I’m in awe of how your village come together for the nursery—and your mom needs a DIY channel if she doesn’t have one already, lol. Two dollars for a dresser? Yes, please! Congratulations, Lady!
