As a new, first-time mom, it’s hard not to go down the rabbit hole of gadgets and gizmos for your baby, especially when you haven’t spent time caring for a newborn. You just don’t really know what you truly need and what you don’t. For me, I didn’t want to overwhelm myself, my budget, or clutter up our home with tons of baby items that my son would not frequently use.
With Walmart, you don’t have to worry. They have budget-friendly baby essentials every new mom needs. From infant car seats to keep baby safe, to snacks that help support breastmilk supply for breastfeeding moms, you can find so many great things for your bundle of joy. You can head to the store or make online orders and get free 2-day shipping on purchases over $35.
You know we are always sharing things to add a little glam to your everyday life. So here are 5 Walmart glam finds for new moms that are priced right for any budget or situation.
Infant Car Seat
One of the most expensive items you will purchase for your baby is a car seat. Infant car seats are great because most detach from a secure base, allowing you to carry baby in and out of the car without taking them out of the car seat. There are several infant car seats on the market, and the prices can really get up there. No worries – Walmart has great options for quality car seats at every price point. I’m excited to be an #Evenflo_Partner, because the Evenflo® Advanced SensorSafe LiteMax Infant Car Seat is stylish and safe at a very reasonable price point.
The LiteMax™ 35 Infant Car Seat is extremely lightweight with an ergo handle that makes it one of the easiest car seats to carry. It also comes with an easy to install base equipped with a two-step vehicle belt lock-off for a quick and secure installation. Just because this car seat is budget-friendly doesn’t mean it doesn’t have some really glam features. One in particular that will help out us busy first-time moms is the life-saving SensorSafe™ technology. A chime sounds if your child unfastens the chest clip while the car is in motion. At the end of your trip, it will also remind you that your child is still buckled in the back.
Lactation Cookies
Since the baby was born, I’ve had a challenge with my breastmilk supply. Fortunately, I’ve been able to work with a few Lactation Consultants who have given me so much guidance and support to keep breastfeeding despite the challenges. I’m currently working to increase my breastmilk supply before returning to work in a few weeks, so I was excited to try Milkmakers® Chocolate Chip Lactation Cookie Bites.
These cookies are delicious, and contain key ingredients like oats, brewer’s yeast and flaxseed – traditionally used to support breastmilk supply. I guess that’s why they are Lactation Consultant recommended. The cookie bites come in three great-tasting flavors: Oatmeal Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal Raisin, and Chocolate Salted Caramel. I can’t wait to try them all!
Disposable Diapers
My son has literally worn Pampers® Swaddlers since he was born – it’s what the nurses put on my baby in the hospital. Pampers has been the only brand of diaper I’ve used since then, and I plan to keep it that way. One of my favorite things about Pampers is the wetness indicator that lets me know when Baby Blakes might need a change.
The heart quilts liner gives them the best blanket-like softness. The umbilical cord notch is perfect for protects baby’s delicate belly. It has soft, stretchy sides that help keep the diaper in place. The Absorb Away Liner pulls wetness and mess away from baby’s skin. Who can resist the cute Sesame Street characters on the front? They make me smile even when I’m changing a dirty diaper.
Swaddle/Infant Wrap
My baby has enjoyed being swaddled since the nurses did it at the hospital after he was born. We slacked off for a couple weeks because he was sleeping ok once we were at home. But then one night, he was extremely restless. Just when I thought I’d run out of options, I tried the Summer Infant® SwaddleMe® Original Swaddle. The secure design creates a cozy, womb-like feeling for baby. I found that it prevents overstimulation as Mr. Blakes Jr is still figuring out how to control his arms and legs. It also prevents startle reflex that can wake your infant. Instantly, Mr. Blakes Jr felt relaxed, fell asleep, and slept for 4 hours. And so did we! For new moms who may not understand the significance of that, 4 hours of sleep post-baby is the equivalent of 8 hours pre-baby.
The Summer Infant SwaddleMe Original Swaddle adjustable infant wrap has been designed and tested for easy, safe swaddling to keep babies comfy every night throughout their first year. They are the original brand of swaddles and are 100% cotton. They also have a harness slit that works with most restraints on car seats and sleeper products. They come in several colors and prints. I’m obsessed with the Little Dino design.
Baby Wash & Shampoo
One of our favorite things to do with our son is bath time. In the beginning, he was not a fan of being naked, wet and cold. It’s definitely a little different than his time in the womb. I would bathe him while Mr. Blakes would try to console him, and sneak in a few pictures. That added extra minutes to bath time that Mr. Blakes Jr was not here for. I found that he did much better in the bathroom tub since the bathroom space is smaller and easier to keep warm.
Because newborn babies has such delicate skin, we only give him a bath once a week. This time, I let Dad do all the work, and I took a few pictures. Johnson’s® Cottontouch™Newborn Baby Wash & Shampoo is a great choice. It’s ultra-light and gentle for newborn skin. Mr. Blakes couldn’t get over how good baby boy was smelling after his bath. This baby wash absorbs fast, rinses clean, and feels incredibly soft because it’s blended with real cotton. Knowing that it is free of parabens, phthalates, dye, and sulfates is a plus too.
One thing I find it hard to make time for is grocery shopping. Especially with a newborn who’s not quite ready to be out and about just yet. Online Grocery Pickup at Walmart is a super helpful service for busy moms. Save time & money with free pickup. You can enjoy the convenience of shopping online and the ease of quickly picking up groceries without having to leave the car, all at no additional cost. Order these baby essentials and groceries for the family and get $10 off your first grocery order of $50 or more with the code WOWFRESH. Walmart online groceries have the same everyday low prices as local Walmart stores, and no subscription fee is required.
For all the expecting and new moms, or for those of you shopping for the first-time moms in your life, keep these budget-friendly baby essentials every new mom needs in mind. Regardless of your price point, Walmart has you covered!
Aww, first congrats! Motherhood is amazing. Your bundle of joy is adorable. As for all the item you shared, I think you have everything covered. Walmart definitely has everything you need as new parents!
Aw, your little one is so precious! I wish these gadgets were around when I needed them. Congrats to you all!
It sounds like you are figuring things out, and that is great. I used the Pampers brand with both of my kids and I swear by them. Lactation cookies sound amazing, I didn’t know about these things when I was breastfeeding. I that they are encouraging and supporting us to nurse our babies.
Congrats on your beautiful baby! That swaddle is too cute!
Congratulations!!! I remember when my little babies were small. He is a handsome adorable little prince.
Girl I lived for those lactation cookies back when I was breastfeeding. I struggled a lot and those definitely helped my supply. Nice to know they are available at Walmart
Congratulations! He’s adorable! I miss this phase, but I totally agree its easy to get caught up in the newness that you want to get everything! We got a lot of stuff at our baby shower but I think we did pretty good in not going overboard because we didn’t have a lot of room to store a lot of extra stuff.
Awe congrats! I’m not a mother yet, but this definitely helped me. Thank you!!
Congrats! I wish I had some of these options when my son was a baby.
