April 7, 2013. That’s the date I officially joined the Bloggers Like Me (BLM) group. I first got wind of the group on a Facebook post from fellow blogger Ashley of FabEllis.com. BLM: Bloggers Like Me is “a collaborative group of women sharing ideas, building relationships, and celebrating each other through blogging, social media and meet ups.” Here’s why I decided to join, what I love about the group, and what I’ve learned so far.
Why I Joined BLM
As I focused on building my blog and brand, I’d been looking for more opportunities to connect with bloggers in more constructive way. An environment where people not only understood the struggle but could teach me a thing or two, and where I could share my experience as well.
Why I Love BLM
When I clicked the ‘Join Group’ button on the Facebook group page, I received the warmest and most sincere welcome from the group’s founder Leslie. It felt like a big online hug! At the same time, the message was informative and detailed, which I loved, and at that point I knew I was in the right place. I also enjoy the consistent interaction and TweetChats. I get to see and hear from bloggers in all genres besides what my blogs deals with.
What I Learned from BLM
I’ve been exposed to blogs that address topics outside of the beauty and fashion genre. I think had I not joined BLM I would still just be channeled into blogs in my our topic of interest. I’ve found it a much enjoyed break from the normal blogs I read most times. I’ve also learned about blogger opportunities that have been shared within the group. During out TweetChats, I’ve heard from the Chat Host and other BLM girls different ways to increase readership and build my brand. Lastly, I think I’ve learned that I’m not alone in the blogger struggle, and that I’m on the right track for success.
