As a blogger who has been in the game for several years now, one of the top questions I get asked is if bloggers or influencers need business cards. The short answer is yes. But you don’t have to break the bank to have some really great looking, professional business cards. My go-to has always been Vistaprint. Vistaprint offers customized marketing materials and printed products for blog to fit any budget, style, and occasion. You can choose to create your cards yourself, customizing a template which is what I have done using a professional headshot along with my logo. If you have someone create the card design, you can just upload an existing design. Plus, they offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee, so no worries if you aren’t happy with your purchase.
The main reason I believe bloggers and online influencers should have business cards is because you just never know who you will meet and how much time you will have to speak with them. You want anyone you meet to be able to take your card and find you easily online after you walk away. If they can’t remember the name of your blog or website, they may never take the time to dig and find it. But with a business card, it’s right at their finger tips.
What should you always include on your business cards as a blogger? Here are the top 5 things I think your business cards must have!
#1 – A great picture of you or the main focus of your blog. When someone pulls out that business card from their pocket the day after they meet you, you want them to remember your face or at least what your blog is about instantly.
#2 – Your website or landing page that actually is live. This is so important, but I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gotten cards with no website or a website that no longer exists. That card immediately gets trashed. I’m sure I am not the only one. Having a website just solidifies your brand and lets people know they can take you seriously as a blogger on online influencer.
#3 – Your social media handles. Let people know what social media platforms you are on, and what your handles are on those platforms. A person may not have time to look at your website, but they likely have some time to scroll your Instagram feed or follow you on social right from their phone. I like to put the platform icons along side the handle to save space on the card.
#4 – Your email address. Preferably one you read and respond to daily. Don’t force them to have to search your website or social media in order to find your email address. Make it easy for them to contact you, especially if you talked about collaboration when you met.
#5 – Your blog niche or areas of focus. This helps jog the person’s memory about who you are and what your content is about at a glance. The goal is to get the person to explore more of your content later on. Putting a little more detail about what your blog is about will get them from your card to your blog.
I just received my new business cards pictured in the post, and I love them! I decided to go with the non-traditional square shape, and used a new headshot I had taken this summer. Plus the black and white stripes are on brand. If it’s time for you to get some business cards, or design your current card, be sure to give Vistaprint a try. How did you get the icons for insta , Fb? I’ve used vistaprint and haven’t seen them
You have to upload the images on your own. They aren’t a feature in vista print. I found the icons images online and uploaded them myself.
