The hubster and I were invited to a 50th wedding anniversary party last night. I wasn’t quite sure what to wear as “semi formal” attire always confuses me. What does that REALLY mean?!?! Anyhow…I kept it simple with one of my fav black dresses and gold accessories since it was a golden anniversary. Get it, 50 years…golden anniversary…golden accessories…LOL

This smokey eye was courtesy of e.l.f. cosmetics. I love their Beauty Books – they are just the thing for makeup novices like myself. I got this one – the Smokey Eye edition – from Ross for $4.

Here are the shadows from this palate that I used to create this look. The black on the left for the lid, shimmery brown on the right for the crease. cream in the middle for highlight. The shadows aren’t really organized in any way, but it worked out that these were all in a row together.

I kept the lips neutral with this Maybelline mineral lipstick in Chestnut that I picked up at the Dollar Tree. I added Almay Naturals lip gloss in Nude over the lipstick to give a little shine.

I felt very Kim K with this look…but Kim K on a budget. Gotta love that! The hair is just a dry twist-out using Karen’s Body Beautiful hair nectar and coconut oil.

This cocktail ring came from Forever21, and the earrings and bracelet came from The $1 DollarJewelry store on Facebook.

The shoes I got from a Newport News catalog warehouse sale for $2. Surprisingly enough, though these are really high – they are super comfy. I kept them on all night.

And the dress is by Calvin Klein. I found this at Ross for $13 on clearance. What I love about this dress (even though you can’t see it in these pics) is that it looks like a halter from the front, but my back is completely covered. It also has pads in the boob area, so you don’t need to wear a bra. It does dip a little low in the front, so I just grabbed my black Cami Secret (love these, they sell them at Walmart – 3 colors for $10) and pinned it in place to cover up the cleav.

And here is the hubster. He dresses himself, so I can’t tell you anything about this outfit except that he paid $10 for this tie. I only know that because he went out and bought it at 6:00pm (the party started at 7:00pm). But he still looks handsome to me!
We had a great night with our friends. Its not everyday that you get to celebrate a couple’s 50th wedding anniversary. My parents still have 14 years to go…I guess I should start saving up now LOL
