The tapered cut has been a huge trend in the natural hair community over the past year. Once many ladies let their hair grow and learn how to care for their textured hair, they are ready to chop it off. I absolutely love the trend, even though I probably won’t jump in because I think I’d miss my bun. My mom recently expressed interest in cutting her hair into a tapered style. So she rode over to Virginia Beach, and Fawnne Smith of Salon Noa cut and styled her hair. My mom loved the results and so did I. Fortunately, after lots of begging and explaining why you all would want to see it, she let me take pictures and video footage to share some of her experience.

She consulted another stylist previously, and that stylist told my mom that she would have to straighten her hair in order to do the haircut. Talking to many of my readers and viewers, they have been told the same thing. But is that truly the case? Should you straighten your natural hair in order to get a precision haircut? Well, that depends on whether you wear your hair straight or textured the majority of the time. Check out this video where I go into detail about whether you should straighten your hair for a precision cut, and why mom did not.
