Winter coats can be the ultimate in blah fashion. For most, utility and functionality is more important that style. But it’s possible to have both, and at a great price. How does $7 sound? That’s how much I was able to get this grey striped winter coat I thrifted recently. This double-breasted coat has a royal blue stripe that runs through it, which adds some life to what otherwise would be the typical coal grey coat.Grey-Blue-Winter-Coat_7grey winter coat, royal blue satchel, oxfords

This grey coat is great for a casual, running errands, or grabbing a bite to eat type of day with Mr. Blakes look. Which is actually what we ended up doing after he took these pictures. I found these laceless, slip-on oxfords during a random ‘I only need one thing but wound up in the clearance section’ trip to Target for only $8. These shoes are sturdy but not uncomfortable, and no worries about tying laces all day. Grey-Blue-Winter-Coat_4 Grey-Blue-Winter-Coat_3 Grey-Blue-Winter-Coat_2 Grey-Blue-Winter-Coat_1

I knew I had a royal blue bag that I’d purchased from Forever 21 for like $6 during a 50% off of all handbags sale they had a couple of years ago. So when I decided to style this coat, it came to mind and fit perfectly. The silver metallic details in the handbag made me want to wear this sterling silver ring my mom picked up for me during a recent trip to the Bahamas.

Do you usually wear the typical winter coat, or do you like to add some of your personality into your outerwear? We’d love to hear about it.
