Met Erik Weihenmayer. Erik is the only blind adventurer to climb to the seven highest summits in the world. His latest expedition? To kayak the Grand Canyon’s Colorado River! He and fellow blind adventurer, Lonnie Bedwell, will be the first blind adventurers to attempt this enormous feat. This expedition serves to inspire people to not limit themselves, eliminate barriers in their lives and live life to its fullest.  Nature Valley is joining Erik Weihenmayer in inviting people to pledge to get out there and live a No Barriers Life. The Expedition

The “No Barriers Grand Canyon Expedition” is a 21-day, 277 mile journey through some of the world’s most challenging whitewater terrain in the Colorado River. The trip began on September 7 at Lees Ferry, nine miles south of the Arizona-Utah border. Erik and his team expect to complete the expedition on or around September 28 at Pearce Ferry, which marks the boundary between Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon.

#MyAdventure

While I may be a girl who loves some glam, I am a tomboy at heart. I love to get outdoors with NuNu and the hubby and explore. I also have done a few 5K and 8K races in my area, even with my bad right ankle. Those were a real challenge but I pushed through! I’m not here for going camping just yet, but one anniversary I planned a trip for us to visit the Shenandoah Valley for  a week. That’s about as close as I was willing to get. It was beautiful! We saw deer close up almost every day, and we even saw a black bear. Every day we picked a different trail to go try out. One trail had a waterfall at the end – it was amazing! Then there was one trail that we got lost on…and for a minute I thought we were in big trouble, but we made it back okay. That was the end of going on trails though! We went shopping the next day 🙂
