Leaving your dog home alone for even a few hours can be extremely stressful for your dog. If you have to leave them home along for several hours, or have to travel out of town for an extended period of time, that can be even more stressful. Often times, it can be difficult to find family and friends that can stop by to check on your dog, or keep the dog in their home. Rover.com, the best website for finding a dog sitter or dog walker nationwide, can help you and your dog find someone to take care of you dog when you are away.
NuNu, our 6 year old Shih Tzu, does not like being left home alone. She whines and scratches at the patio door as soon as we leave, then she goes to hid in the house and refuses to eat until we come back home. It’s kinda heartbreaking to watch her stare out of the window as our car drives off. So when Rover contacted me about trying out their website to find a dog sitter in my area, I was excited to try it out.
It’s very easy and totally free to set up an account on Rover, and if you use this referral code, you’ll receive $20 towards your first Rover service! They even have an app that you can download on your phone, which is exactly what I did. Once I set up my account, the next step was to select the type of service I needed which was in-home sitting. Then I indicated my zip code, and the date I needed the service. Within hours, I’d been contacted by Amber via Rover. We were able to communicate by phone call and text, right through Rover without having to give out our direct phone number. Just a few reasons Rover is the best website for finding a dog sitter in your area.
After a few messages back and forth, we schedule a meet and greet so we could meet her and get familiar with their home. While NuNu was a little reluctant, Amber was very gentle and kind with her, and once she picked NuNu up in her arms, NuNu was sold. She had the opportunity to sniff around with a couple of the other dogs that Amber was currently sitting at the time, and we were glad that NuNu adjusted well. Amber was very knowledgable of dogs in general, and we could tell that she really loved animals.
A couple weeks later, it was time for our night ‘unleashed’ when we would leave NuNu with Amber for a date night. We worried how she would do once we left her alone, but we were confident that she’d be in great hands with Amber and her family. With the Rover app, Amber was able to keep us posted with messages and pictures of NuNu while we were out. This definitely made us more comfortable. As soon as we arrived to The Cellars, which was a few hours after we dropped NuNu off, we received a few pictures of NuNu from Amber via Rover. NuNu was clearly doing just lovely without us, which we kinda felt jealous about, but were happy at the same time.
The Cellars, located in Virginia Beach, was an amazing restaurant. The food and drinks were top-notch, and we definitely indulged. From the crab soup, to the wild boar and buffalo meatloaf, the butterscotch brussel sprouts, smoked mac and cheese, and lump crab topped ribeye steak to the brown sugar shortbread, and did I mention the expresso martini? My goodness, we will definitely be back soon for another great dinner at The Cellars.
We headed back to Amber’s house to pick up NuNu, and when we arrived she was curled up on the couch very comfortably. She was excited to see us, but not in a ‘get me out of here’ type of way – which means she enjoyed herself. We truly loved our experience with Rover and would book a stay for NuNu with Amber the next time we need a sitter. If you have a dog, you should definitely check out Rover.
