I received an email today from Ms Nina Ellis-Hervey aka BeautifulBrwnBabyDol to notify me that I’ve been selected as a VIP participant in the 1st ever Nzuri Bloggersphere at the Reliant Center in Houston Texas!  Isn’t that awesome?

So what does that all mean? A few things for me, and a few things for YOU if you’re in or around the Houston, TX area!  For me, that means my blog will be featured throughout the event and I will get an opportunity to blog/vlog during the event to share with you all the fun and excitement going on if you aren’t in the building (which you should be if you are in or around Houston).  And of course, lots of gifts and prizes from many of the event sponsors.  For you, it means opportunities to win FREE tickets!

The premier event sponsor is none other than Miss Jessie’s!  Special guest celebrity stylists Felicia Leatherwood and Isis Brantley as well as emcee Guiness world wecord holder for the Largest Afro, Aevin Dugas will be in the house!  Everything from vendors to classes & workshops to a natural hair beauty pageant – so much to see and do.  All for just $10 – you can’t beat that price, dolls!

There’s so much more to share, and as I get more information I’ll be sharing it so stay tuned!!!

Cheffing it Up! My Parents’ Anniversary

My husband and I have been thru alot of changes over the last year, and my parents have really been there to support us.  So now that we are a little more settled, we wanted to do something special for my folks.  But what?!?!  Dinner…been done.  Gifts…they have pretty much everything.  A card…they deserved more.  So I put my thinking cap on, and thought “hey, I bet they’ve never had a personal chef cook for them!”  And there the idea was born.

So on to the search for a chef.  I asked around and a co-worker refered me to Chef Steve.  Chef Steve was awesome from the planning stages to the actual dinner.  He arrived right on time and prepared a WONDERFUL dinner for the eight of us.

First things first - the appetizers.  We had a fruit salad with cantalope, honeydew, blueberries, strawberrries, pineapples, and grapes.  We also had a pasta salad with peas and sundried tomatoes.  And we can’t forget the garlic shrimp, pictured above.

Next, a huge italian style garden salad.  Romaine lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, feta cheese, hot peppers and olives tossed in a delicious Italian dressing.  Can’t forget the delicious rolls!

And the grand finale – baked salmon with basil butter, pasta and sauteed veggies on the side.  Look at the size of these salmon filets!  Needless to say by the end of the night, we were stuffed.

If you are interested in hiring a personal chef for a special evening for a party under 10, then Chef Steve is the person for you.  He doesn’t have a website or anything as he purely does this for fun.  But if you seriously want to inquire about his services, I’d be glad to refer you.  Email me at itsmemonchhichi@yahoo.com.
